Reality Capture Services for Construction
Drawings show what was designed. Reality capture shows what was built. We measure the site with laser scanners, drone LiDAR and robotic total stations, check the data against control, and hand your team a record it can design, build and verify from.
Talk about a projectWhat reality capture is
Reality capture is measuring existing conditions directly instead of trusting old drawings. Instruments record millions of measured points on every surface, and those points are registered into one coordinate system to form a point cloud: a 3D record of the site as it actually stands.
How we capture it
The job decides the instrument, not the other way round.
Terrestrial laser scanning
Leica RTC360, BLK360 and ScanStation P-Series scanners for buildings, plants, tunnels and structures, where detail and accuracy matter most.
Drone LiDAR
RTK drone LiDAR for large sites, roofs, stockpiles and terrain, where access or scale makes ground scanning slow. Flown by Part 107 certified pilots.
Robotic total stations
Layout and verification tied to project control, so the scan, the model and the field all use the same coordinates.
Reality capture in construction
Where it pays for itself on a project.
Existing conditions before design
Renovations and retrofits start from what is there, not what the record drawings say. Designers work on measured geometry from day one.
Verification during the build
Scan the work in place and compare it to the design model. Deviation found before the next trade builds on it is cheap. Found after, it is rework.
Fabrication and prefabrication fit
Steel, piping and modular assemblies are fabricated to measured field conditions, so they fit when they arrive.
As-builts and facility records
A measured record of the finished building for owners, facility teams and the next renovation.
What you get back
Agreed before we capture, because the deliverable decides the tolerance.
Registered point cloud
One coordinate system, checked against control, in E57, RCP or the format your software expects.
Models and drawings
Revit, CAD and IFC models, or plans, elevations and sections. See Scan to BIM.
Deviation and clash reports
The captured condition compared against your design model, or against an earlier scan of the same site.
Access for the whole team
Point cloud viewing, measurement and annotation through Leica TruView and Reality Cloud Studio, no CAD seat required.
How a project runs
Scope
What areas, what the data is for, the tolerance and the coordinate system. Getting this right is what keeps the cost honest.
Capture on site
The right mix of scanning, drone LiDAR and total station work for the job, tied to project control.
Registration and quality control
Data registered and checked against control before anything is delivered.
Delivery
Point cloud, model or report, in the format your team works in.
What reality capture costs
There is no honest per square foot price before scoping. Four things drive the number: the level of detail you need, site access and working hours, how much of the site needs modeling rather than scanning, and turnaround. Tell us those and you get a real figure instead of a range.
Capture it yourself, or have us do it
We are a Leica Geosystems Authorized Service and Distribution Partner. If reality capture is steady work for your team, we sell, rent, service and train on the same instruments our crews use. See Leica 3D laser scanners.
