Scan&Go in Action
Since its recent touchdown on the American market, Scan&Go has already begun revolutionizing the industry. The integration of traditional surveying methods and motorized mobility grants an entirely different perspective of how we look at our workflow.
With the option of bypassing multiple set-ups between scans and features like newfound vantage points or a significant decrease in travel time, Scan&Go’s innovative technology has transformed the once dreaded, large scan into a simple stroll around the block. The results? Just take a look at what's happening in Eastern Washington.
Sustainability & Opportunity in Spokane
Katerra, a pioneer in material manufacturing, first announced the inception of their newest timber facility in late September of 2017. The 250,000 sq. foot facility aims to optimize the industry with sustainable lumber products like Glulam and cross-laminated timber (CLT); state-of-the-art building materials that are further achieving safer structures while simultaneously satisfying economics and the environment.
Aside from providing thousands of new jobs to the City of Spokane, WA, after completion, the large-scale development has already brought over 150 construction related jobs onto the site. Katerra also has a number of big projects lined up that will bring significant growth to the city. Spokane’s economic future is already looking bright with projects like the Community Cancer Fund, the Ronald McDonald House, and Kootenai Health (Waldon House). In short, the faster the sustainable building advocates of Katerra get their facility, the faster economic inclination can take way, and that's where Scan&Go comes in.
Scan&Go Speeds Up Development
With such a large project at hand, time is crucial. Scanning large properties can be long and grueling—sometimes setting back building production weeks or even months. Even with the combined expertise of construction giants like McKinstry—the specialists in sustainable building—and Lydig Construction—60-year veterans who never stop pushing the limits in design—survey time is an unavoidable factor that can only go so fast.
ICR80 adds quick construction layout in addition to scanning.
It doesn’t matter how efficient the surveyor is, there are only so many layout points one can acquire from standard equipment. Furthermore, on huge properties such as the new Katerra facility, traditional methods can only go so fast. By being able to easily attach the RTC360 to the roof of a vehicle, travel time has been significantly reduced, unattainable layout points have been gathered, and only one set-up before scanning and one breakdown after the scan has been necessary.
